PSC EXPERTS IN THE FIELD: REFINING THE STANDARDS FOR SAFETY, PERFORMANCE AND ATTITUDE.Mike Powell Account Manager Benicia, CA Years with PSC: 16 Mike Powell manages day-to-day operations for PSC’s account at a major client in Benicia, California. He’s played a key role in keeping the client’s business with PSC since 1991. He’s proud of being an active part of getting the CAL OSHA V.P.P. Award, and of having the refinery put PSC in the NPRA Merit Award for 2005. It’s no wonder Mike has been elected Chairperson of the Contractors’ Safety Forum three years in a row. After 16 years with PSC and 20 years of on the job “training”, Mike’s still learning and enjoying the people he works with, as well as the daily challenges. He says, “Things change rather quickly at times.” That could be an understatement, since most of the jobs PSC handles involve risk – including hydroblasting, air moving, fresh air work, confined space work, tank cleaning and degassing. One of the biggest challenges he’s helped solve was being called upon to take over the cleaning operations of a 250-foot tank with very little notice, and succeeding. Always a man of his word – except on April Fool’s Day. Mike also finds a sense of humor helpful. Once he told a new branch manager, “I quit,” saw his panicked face, then confessed, “Happy April Fool’s, and welcome to PSC.” They shared a good laugh, and Mike’s still here, still smiling, even under pressure. It’s comes down to experience and attitude. Mike says, “The dedication of PSC’s team really sets us apart. You get what you pay for – and more – with PSC. We’re the best in the industry.” And that’s no joke. |
